Peter van der Borgh, an experienced geologist,  has worked in exploration and mining for 25 years, including three years research at the University of Western Australia studying the formation of Giant Ore Deposits (the ‘GODS’ project).  Peter acquired the North Monger project in 2005, and with his fellow Directors and associates listed Cortona Resources Limited on the ASX in March 2006.  Peter combines strong exploration skills with experienced business acumen that have contributed to the Company’s success.  This is typified by the acquisition of the highly prospective Majors Creek gold project (Dargues Reef) in July 2007.

Mr. Van der Borgh combines a range of conceptual and practical exploration skills with a high level of enthusiasm that are a major benefit to the Company. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society (London).

George Lazarou is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over twenty years experience, including five years as a Partner with Bentleys, specialising in the areas of Audit, Advisory and Corporate Services. 

George has extensive skills in the areas of audit, corporate services, due diligence, independent expert reports, merger & acquisitions and valuations. 

George brings with him a high level of commercial skills having worked closely with publicly listed companies in the mining, building, engineering, environmental and construction industries.  George is also a director of United Uranium Limited.

Derek Fisher has been instrumental in the development of mines and processing facilities in Australia, Mongolia, and Armenia, and project assessment and exploration on all continents.  He began his career with the NSW Geological Survey as a trainee geologist in 1966 and following graduation from the University of New England, Armidale NSW, he moved into the mineral exploration and mining industry working with Inco in Australia, the Solomon Islands and Canada.

During the 1970’s he undertook doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, Canada, gaining his PhD in 1979.  In the 1980’s and 1990’s he was a founder or co-founder of a number of companies listed on both the ASX and TSX, including Anvil Mining Limited.  Dr. Fisher is an honorary life member of the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) having spent thirteen years on the council of AMEC, four as President.  Derek is also the Managing Director of Moly Mines Limited.

Lorne Harvey has more than 15 years' finance and commercial experience in various international and Australian listed mining companies.

Past appointments include senior finance management roles with Barrick Australia/Africa and Mineral Resources. Lorne has extensive skills in the areas of audit, SOX and internal controls, system implementations, construction reporting and process improvements.

Mr Harvey is a chartered accountant, member of Chartered Secretaries Australia and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Mr Milazzo is a mining engineer with 30 years’ experience in the development and management of underground and surface mines across a range of mineral commodities.

Past appointments include senior operational roles with WMC Resources and more recently with mining contractor HWE Mining where he managed a portfolio of surface and underground mining operations. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a non executive director of Global Advanced Metals Pty Ltd and Red 5 Ltd.
